According to Battlefield 1‘s German Community Manager Sebastian Moritz, fans of the franchise will be getting the chance to access the forthcoming title’s long-awaited open beta “shortly after gamescom.” The tease comes from a recent Twitch stream from the game with CmdKrieger, but unfortunately, it wasn’t confirmed exactly when the test would take place.
With gamescom 2016 running from August 18 to August 21, Moritz’s hint regarding Battlefield 1‘s open beta points to the test eventually going live either in the last week of next month, or during the first half of September. Nevertheless, without an exact time and date being offered as to when it would occur, it’s important to take this information with a grain of salt, as it’s simply speculation.
On top of the news regarding the possible window of Battlefield 1‘s open beta, Moritz also stated that fans who subscribed to the game’s newsletter to become an Insider will get access to the test three days earlier than those who did not. Furthermore, the German Community Manager declared that the Rush mode will be a part of the title in some capacity, as was previously discovered thanks to Reddit user Lobix300’s data mining of Battlefield 1‘s closed alpha test revealing the game’s weapons, maps, modes, levels, and more.
So far, the only officially confirmed game modes for Battlefield 1 have been Conquest, Domination, and Operations, and due to an unclear translation of the CmdKrieger’s live Twitch stream for the title, it’s uncertain if Moritz meant that Rush would be a part of the beta, the final version of the game itself, or both. It’s likely that DICE and EA will step up to verify all that Battlefield 1‘s forthcoming public test will offer soon enough, though, as there’s plenty of speculation swirling around the title’s contents. For instance, YouTuber AlmightyDaq has even claimed that the shooter will have a strangely named game mode called Capture the Pigeon, which could be a variation of capture the flag.
Whatever the case may be concerning the actual date of Battlefield 1‘s open beta, the sooner the game’s creators make it available, the better. Not only will fans be more likely to go on and buy a copy of the title to get the full experience after having tried it out, but also developers will get a better idea of what to tweak and the features that need to be included at launch in order to ensure the smoothest roll out for the game. After all, having 64 player multiplayer battles is a pretty massive undertaking, and as is the case with a lot of titles these days, post-release problems are bound to happen, so it’s best to nip as many of them in the bud as soon as possible.
